This large painting was commissioned by students from AS±¬ÁÏÍøRock Creek to celebrate the turn of the Millennium.  The artist, Hector H. Hernandez, developed the imagery with input from AS±¬ÁÏÍøstudents (who also served as models) to create a phantasmagoria where Chichen Itza meets Mount Hood, Portlandia joins hands with an Aztec Bird God, Microelectronics patterns appear as stone temple carvings, and Building 7 gets repainted in candy colors.  Such imagery of the ancient and modern is in the tradition of the Mexican muralists such a David Siqueros and Arnold Belkin, with whom Hernandez studied in Mexico City.
