±¬ÁÏÍøWelcomes New Director of Plant Services
Story by James Hill
After nearly 20 years of employment as a director of maintenance for the paper manufacturer Ft. James Corp. (Crown Zellerbach Corp., when he started), Randy McEwen left the company’s Alabama mill for the greener pastures of ±¬ÁÏÍø.
McEwen, the new director of Physical Plant at PCC, will now bring his expertise in the fields of engineering and building maintenance to the college. McEwen’s duties include maintaining and improving ±¬ÁÏÍøfacilities, buildings and grounds. He replaces former director Betty Kay, who worked for ±¬ÁÏÍøfor more than 20 years before retiring in December.
A graduate of Stanford in 1970 with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering,
McEwen spent eight years in the U.S. Navy as a commissioned officer following college. As an officer, he also taught engineering to ROTC students at the University of Colorado.
"The physical plant, custodial and maintenance staffs at ±¬ÁÏÍøare just extraordinary," McEwen said recently. "Their commitment to the success of the college is something I see daily. The level of pride is very high."
McEwen and his family make their home in Longview, Wash.
