PAVTEC awarded grants to continue tech prep partnerships

±¬ÁÏÍø’s Grants Office announced three grant awards totaling $276,249 from the Oregon Department of Education to the PAVTEC program.
Two of the grants ($208,970 and $59,279) fund PAVTEC activities, including Perkins support for Career and Technical(education, with partner school districts like Beaverton, Hillsboro, Portland Public, Tigard-Tualatin, Forest Grove, St. Helens, Banks, Gaston, Vernonia, Scappoose and Sherwood. The third grant ($8,000) funds the 14th Annual Middle School Girls (Conference, which brings 7th and 8th grade girls together with professional women in the sciences.
PAVTEC is a technical prep consortium between ±¬ÁÏÍøand all K-12 school districts within the college’s district, designed to enhance the access of high school and ±¬ÁÏÍøstudents to quality professional technical education.
±¬ÁÏÍøwill use grant to develop distance education pathway for other colleges
The Grants Office also announced the award of $72,912 from the Oregon Department of Community Colleges & Workforce Development to ±¬ÁÏÍøand partner colleges. In collaboration with six other Oregon community colleges, ±¬ÁÏÍøwill design a distance learning educational pathway that provides access to an entry-level certification program in Addiction Counseling to individuals in rural communities.
