Busy week for lawmaker and longtime ±¬ÁÏÍøinstructor

The rook is getting some time off the bench.

Michael Dembrow, newly minted lawmaker and longtime ±¬ÁÏÍøinstructor, has been on the job a grand total of eight days and said he’s had meetings with the Oregon Student Association; Environment Oregon; American Federation of Teachers – Oregon; the Physical Therapy Association (which, I didn’t know there was one); the League of Women Voters (love them); the various dental providers under the Oregon Health Plan; the Public Utility Commission; advocates for locating a destination resort in the Metolius River Basin; Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian; the Oregon School Employees Association; The Service Employees International Union; the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; advocates of school-based health care centers; folks from the Oregon Department of Human Services, from the city of Portland and from the Association of Oregon Cities; the United Seniors and the Association of Retired Americans; Advocates for Spiritual Healing (that would be the Christian Scientists); the Oregon Law Center; and union officials from the Oregon Education Association who specifically work with community colleges.

OK, well, not bad. I assume he’s squeezed in a lunch and time with his wife, Kiki. He might have slept for an hour, too.

Remind me again why anyone runs for this job?
