Education Abroad Policies

Program Cancellation Policy

Study abroad programs can be canceled due to several factors, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Low student enrollmentÌý
  • Public health or safety warnings
  • Travel restrictions due to natural disasters or political safety, as determined by the U.S. Department of StateÌý

The ±¬ÁÏÍøEducation Abroad Office works closely with our program provider organizations in countries where our programs travel to maintain the health and safety of our students and faculty while abroad. The ±¬ÁÏÍøEducation Abroad Office, in consultation with ±¬ÁÏÍøRisk Management, may decide to cancel a program if the risk of sending students and faculty to a particular destination during the program dates is too great.ÌýÌý

Withdrawal Policy

If a student needs to withdraw from a ±¬ÁÏÍøstudy abroad program, they must contact the ±¬ÁÏÍøEducation Abroad Office directly. A student is not considered withdrawn until their written notice is received.Ìý

How to Withdraw from a ±¬ÁÏÍøStudy Abroad Program:Ìý

  • Send an email or schedule a meeting with a ±¬ÁÏÍøEd Abroad Advisor to submit your notice of withdrawal formally
  • Include your name and the program that you have been admitted to
  • Include an explanation of why you are withdrawing from your program

Important: Withdrawing from a program does not absolve a student of their responsibility of covering program costs. Financial and academic consequences will be based on the official withdrawal date for your program.

Financial Responsibilities When A Student Withdraws

Course Withdrawal

If a student withdraws from a ±¬ÁÏÍøstudy abroad course, the same payment deadlines and timelines that apply to regular ±¬ÁÏÍøcourses will apply. Check the ±¬ÁÏÍødrop deadline website for specific timelines and potential financial consequences.

Program Fee Responsibilities

If a student withdraws less than 45 days before the program start date, the student will still owe part of the program fee. This covers expenses that program providers have already paid on the student’s behalf.

Where to Find Specific Information

For exact dates and detailed financial obligations, visit ±¬ÁÏÍøStudy Abroad 2026 Programs, select a specific program, and click on the “Program Costs and Policies” tab.

Disclaimer: This is a general policy and may be subject to change. Specific program contracts and host institution policies may take precedence. Students are responsible for reviewing and understanding all program-specific policies.

±¬ÁÏÍøEducation Abroad Refund Policy

If a student withdraws from a ±¬ÁÏÍøstudy abroad program, the $500 program deposit is non-refundable unless the program is canceled.Ìý

The program could be canceled due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances in a specific location. In these circumstances, a student will receive a refund of their $500 as long as they do not owe money to the college.

Once the deposit deadline (February 22) has passed, financial expenses and future commitments will be made on the student’s behalf. The $500 deposit the student submitted will not be refunded if they drop or withdraw from the course.

±¬ÁÏÍøis not responsible for any losses incurred by students who become ineligible to attend the program or who are dismissed once the program has begun.
